The Community Baboon Sanctuary was established to preserve and protect the Black Howler Monkeys and their natural habitat. The sanctuary is located some 25 miles from Belize City in the Belize river valley. There is an onsite visitor centre and a museum, where local guides firstly informs you of all the environmental and conservative efforts being made to preserve the Black Howler Monkeys and their natural habitat. Then they take you on a nature trail to see the Howler Monkeys. You will be able to get close up to these magnificent animals or hear their load howls. Also come be amazed by the various species of birds, butterflies and tropical plants.
